Mary’s Bean

$85.00

Part of a series (Consolations & Desolations) created for the approaching third annual Earth Day exhibition, INTERWOVEN, the Mary's Bean is a rarer sea bean or drift seed also known at the Crucifix Bean. This excellent specimen's surface is protected with a light coat of all-natural wax (no solvents - contains walnut oil). Raffia has been coiled about the bean, which can easily be removed from its simple nest, if desired (great to hold in prayer either way).

Materials: Mary's bean + raffia + wax
Dimensions: Approximately 1.25 x 1.25 x .75"
Presentation: See above.

ABOUT THE BOZZETTI

You may be familiar with maquette - the French term for a small model of a larger, intended sculptural endeavour. The Italian term bozzetto - which translates to sketch - also describes studies for finalized works. These bozzetti began as a contemplative practice during an artist residency. The idea was to create something within an hour, usually without source material, and this practice has continued to be a part of the artist’s studio life.
